New River Gorge - a very underrated national park

Nestled in the western portion of West Virginia, New River Gorge National Park is the newest national park and happens to be just a 5 hour drive from the D.C. area where we live. We decided to check it out recently and had an amazing time. We lodged at the New River Gorge Cabins, which were private and quiet, and included our own campfire ring. The weather was pretty hot, so we stuck to small hikes but still had some really nice views. But highlight of the trip was a family white water rafting trip through the gorge. We used Ace Adventure Resort for that and it was a fantastic experience all around.
