Plugins for journaling in Obsidian

When I decided to move my journaling from DayOne to Obsidian, there were two things I knew I was going to miss - the calendar view and the map view. Way back when I last used Obsidian, there was not a simple way to replicate these features within Obsidian.

Thankfully, that has changed. In addition to the standard Daily Notes core plugin, here is how I replicated these other features:

Notebook Navigator is a wonderful plugin that replaces a lot of other plugins. But the most important thing it does for me is displays a really nice calendar in the sidebar that inserts pictures from that entry into each date. Because I am using daily notes as my journal, this is perfect.

The MapView plugin replicates another feature that I loved in DayOne, the ability to geo-tag entries and see them on a map, but it makes it even better. What I love about this plugin is that I can use it to enter location data into frontmatter, which will then display my journal entries on a map, just like is done in DayOne. But it also allows me to enter inline location links, thus allowing me to enter more than one location into a single entry. This is better than DayOne which only allowed for one location per entry.
