The Forkiverse is building better social media
The minute I heard The Forkiverse Experiment episode of the Search Engine podcast, I was all in. I requested an account before I even finished listening to the podcast.
I have long been a fan of decentralized social media and Mastodon. The concept sounds amazing - no single ownership, no data lock in, no corporate evilness. 👿
Adoption hasn't been quick or widespread, but I see that as a positive thing. Slow adoption brings back the vibe of Twitter or LiveJournal in the early days.
Right now, The Forkiverse has a cool vibe (and by setting up an account on The Forkiverse, you can interact with all the other federated servers on Mastodon).
But what I really loved about this podcast episode was that it did such a good job of explaining how Mastodon works, something even I struggle to explain after years of using Mastodon.
You can join The Forkiverse here, and you can find me on the Forkiverse here.
